Many fear that AI will change the very landscape of our lives through widespread job loss, surveillance, and non-human interactions. But is AI and can AI be created to improve our lives? Can we shape the future of AI to prioritize ethical outcomes and human well-being?

Shantenu Agarwal, NY, AI executive
Shantenu Agarwal is the VP of Product at Soul Machines focused on enhancing the connection and collaboration between humans and machines. He recently was at IBM Watson where he built, launched, and grew new products since its inception and helped customers learn how A.I. will help their business and shape the future relationship with their customers. He has spoken about the future benefit of how A.I. will empower humanity at forums such as the World Economic Forum, the International Monetary Fund Youth Summit, and various industry conferences. Shantenu is an ardent supporter of the entrepreneurial community where he volunteers at a New York incubator helping nascent companies transition from biotech labs to companies and supports entrepreneurs globally through the Endeavor network. Shantenu graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Bioengineering and Entrepreneurship and enjoys marathon running, scuba diving, and musing on eclectic topic such as history, biohacking, and geopolitics.

Alexandre Winter, NY, Entrepreneur
Leading the Computer Vision and Machine Learning team for Arlo at Netgear, the undisputed leader in home and security cameras. I also dedicate a portion of my time to mentoring startups at Techstars NYC and IoT, Zeroth.ai, and with several venture capita funds.
Until late 2016, I was the CEO and founder of placemeter, the urban intelligence platform that helps quantify movement in our cities, at scale. We were acquired by Netgear in December 2016 after raising three rounds of venture capital and growing the team to 32 people based in NYC and Paris, France. Prior to placemeter, I was the tech co-founder LTU technologies. LTU was the pioneer in large scale image search by content. The company started up in France and quickly grew business in the USA. We sold LTU technologies successfully to a Japanese group after raising two rounds of venture capital. I was then the CEO of the company for four years.

Oussama Berqi, Dubai, CTO
Oussama Berqi is currently a Director of Engineering at Careem, looking after Data Science and Data Platforms. His role is to transform the region by bringing AI at the core of Careem products. He holds a double masters from Ecole Polytechnique-l'X and UC Berkeley. Careem is valuated 3 billions dollars after 6 years in business.

Jessica Yip, Vancouver, CEO
Founding COO of A&K Robotics. As a 3rd generation entrepreneur, she knows the tenacity and perseverance that goes into running a business and it’s in her DNA. At A&K, Jessica brings her user-centric approach to the table and works collaboratively with a team of scientists, developers, and engineers to create customer-focused solutions that balance speed and budget. As COO she ensures A&K is a capital efficient company that stays on track to hit business milestones and has executive oversight of communications, marketing, human resources and legal. She is passionate about creating robots that help people and volunteers her time with non- profit groups supporting S.T.E.M education for youth. Since the company’s inception, the founders have been actively building and spearheading collaborations with academic institutions to advance a thriving ecosystem to retain the best talent in Canada and create better opportunities for the next generation of technology leaders. Jessica holds a BA in English Literature from the University of British Columbia.

Alex Eremia, LA, CEO
Alex Eremia is an analytical and creative mosaic. Trained as a data analyst, she has experience building eCommerce products. Alex worked at Google Express where she was part of the team to create the first eCommerce experience for the Google Assistant and also helped reach positive margins for some stores. Most recently she founded BingeWith to help everyday content writers match the prowess of publishers like Bloomberg by engaging their audience with insightful audio content. She originates from Romania, and was raised in Toronto prior to moving to California in 2012. She has an indestructible sweet tooth, enjoys performing comedic improv, and occasionally spins fire.

Javaid Iqbal, Chicago, Advisor
Javaid is an advisor, educator and a global speaker in the digital customer transformation, disruption and innovation space with a focus on Cloud, AI, Mobile, IoT, and Data Science. He spent the last two decades spearheading large-scale complex business transformation efforts for global Fortune 100 clients and Federal & State and Local governments across North America, Europe & Asia while representing leading organizations like EY, PwC and Salesforce. He is now the co-founder of TransformX, a global consultancy focusing on getting clients ready to take on the demands of the next generation digital enterprises. Javaid attended Purdue University for his undergraduate studies in Computer Information Systems and holds a Master’s degree in Communication Systems Strategy and Management from Northwestern University where the focus of his academic research was bridging the business, technology and communication gap towards finding growth opportunities across global enterprises.

Jyotsana Aggarwal, Bangalor, CEO
After quitting a corporate job as Managing Director of a leading ed-tech company, Jo Aggarwal began working with young people in post conflict zones like Yemen, Syria and Iraq to address the root causes of terrorism. The nonprofit she helped set up was backed by Prime Ministers, CEO’s, Queens, Nobel prize winners, and a hundred million dollars in funding from the Emir of Qatar. Her work helped connect over a million people in the region to jobs, and won the silver at the Stevie Awards along with the Global Telecom Business Innovation award in 2013. Her learnings from this work eventually led her back to India. Starting from scratch with no income, she and her husband began building a startup in AI and mental health. She then lost a close friend’s son to suicide and battled founders depression of her own. As a side effect of her own healing and unlearning so much of what she thought she knew, Wysa, an empathetic AI coach for emotional wellbeing was born. In the last two years, Wysa has had over seventy million conversations with over a million people in 30 countries. Thirty one people have said Wysa saved their life. One 13 year old girl wrote to Jo saying she had tried to commit suicide and Wysa was the only thing helping her hold on.

Melissa Kargianakis, Toronto, CEO
With skritswap, I was one of only four founders worldwide selected to participate in the Women's Startup Lab in Silicon Valley in 2016 and am now part of Boost VC's Tribe 11 as a Silicon-Vally Venture-Capital backed startup. I have a history of radical leadership and perseverance through systems change to build a better future. I was awarded for this as one of only three Canadians and 60 recipients worldwide to receive the Queen's Young Leaders Award from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II . Our company : Imagine "Google Translate" but instead of changing to different languages, skritswap adjusts information to different reading levels suchas: English Gr. 1, Gr. 3, Gr. 5, Gr. 8, Gr. 12 etc.
